JUAN TAMAD ANG DIYABLO AT ANG 5 MILYONG BOTO - it needs my attention and my reaction

A while ago, I was pondering for the kind of leader our country needs and so I come to the following characteristics. I believe our country now needs a competent and effective leader to run and govern it. He must be a master politician who is above politics, what do you think? And not just that, he must be a leader who is a top man, who ought to know what is going on and set it right. Since, in the first place, he is expected to personify our welfare in an inspiring way. Take note that most of us Filipinos are so hopeless for the betterment and good change of this country, that's why we need some INSPIRATION. For us to achieve this kind of leader, first, we need to practice and exercise our right to vote. This May 10, 2010 we are expected to do that.

Three days ago I watched a very inspiring film entitled Juan Tamad ang Diyablo at Ang 5Milyong Boto. By the way, Juan Tamad is a famous character of Filipino folktales who is very lazy and here he is depicted as a first time voter who doesn’t have much motivation to be part of the electoral. The film was a musical play, and marvelous one. The casts did well in portraying a very significant role among which is relevant to the present, they were also very much entertaining and all. The costumes were beautiful and the colors fits well to the stage set up. And to sum it up, the film's style was entertaining and the content of the story was really interesting and realistic.

On my own perspective, though not as a “virgin voter”, the message of the film was very timely. It taught us how important it is to get involved on the different issues our country is facing, more specifically the upcoming election. The story of the entire play helps awaken the youth and our responsibilities as citizens that is, to participate and let our little voices be heard. Just then, I’ve come to my senses that even a mere vote that comes from me could make a difference. I guess, election isn’t just a time to get even to those evil and corrupt leaders for not voting them AGAIN, rather, election is the time to choose and decide what we think is best base on our own preferences. Yes! I would want my vote to count, praying that this May 10 there would be no failure of election. As a whole, the film really taught me how to be a cooperative, or let me just say,how to be more participative citizen of my country. The entire video also shows how the Filipinos were generally viewed as. Some of the characters, like the mother of Juan criticizes the leader in position using a metamorphic statement such as comparing the politician to a MANANANGGAL, which is I guess is true. Everyone who watched it, for sure can relate to what its message tries to tell us simply because the film itself is very realistic. Now, what strikes me most is how important my vote is for my dear country who is in deep shit. Remember, if we make an informed decision, regardless of who we pick, we are not throwing our vote away.

Before I end my post, I'd like to give credit to PETA for creating such a relevant film for the youth and Especially for promoting The Virgin Voter's Campaign. It is indeed very helpful.
